The Muhlenberg volleyball team wrapped up a stretch of three road trips and four matches in five days with a five-set win against Rhode Island College in Boston.
The Mules (6-7) saved two set points to pull out a 28-26 win in the opening set, but none of the next three sets were close, each with a final of 25-15.
The decisive fifth set wasn't close either. After assisting junior
Abigail Oswari on a kill for the first point of the set, senior
Jenny Ryan served the next eight points as Muhlenberg opened up a commanding 9-0 lead. Ryan
(pictured above) began the service run with back-to-back aces and assisted on a kill by senior
Kelliann Keogh, who added a solo block.
Down 14-5, Rhode Island stayed alive on the next three points before Oswari's kill gave the Mules their third win in a five-setter in two days.
Oswari tied her career high with 17 kills, while sophomore
Andrea Romero-Agosto and freshman
Lizzie Steinkamp recorded 11 apiece. Steinkamp added 11 digs and 5 aces.
Junior
Maddy Budris set a career best with 24 assists.
In their first match of the day, the Mules were competitive in the first set before getting swept by a strong Emerson team. Steinkamp came close to a double-double, finishing with 9 kills and 9 digs, while Oswari also put down 9 kills.
