Muhlenberg played the nationally ranked Rowan field hockey team to a standstill until well into the third quarter before the floodgates opened in a 7-0 loss.
The Mules (2-2) got off to a good start, taking a shot in the first minute of the game, and permitted only two shots on goal in the first half, which ended with the game scoreless.
Muhlenberg took a pair of shots on goal with the game still knotted at 0-0 midway through the third quarter. The Profs (1-3), who came in ranked 24th in Division III with their three losses by a total of five goals to teams ranked ahead of them, finally broke the deadlock at the 39:10 mark.
It was still 2-0 five minutes into the fourth quarter before Rowan netted four goals in less than six minutes to pull away.
