The Muhlenberg field hockey team opened the 2026 season with a tough assignment, falling 3-1 at Scranton.
The Royals went 17-4 and played in the NCAA Tournament last year. They came in with a 12-game home winning streak and extended a 1-0 halftime lead to 3-0 by scoring twice in the first 8:21 of the second half.
The Mules battled back, though, and netted their first goal of the season midway through the fourth quarter when junior
Jocelyn Morgan, making her Muhlenberg debut, scored off a pass from classmate
Haley Foster. It was the fourth career collegiate goal for the transfer from Division II Kutztown.
Sophomore
Brenna Fitzpatrick (pictured above) kept Muhlenberg within striking distance by making a career-high 14 saves, one more than her best from last season. It was the most saves by a Mule goalie in a season-opening game since Kristen Dornenburg stopped 15 shots against Susquehanna in the 2010 opener.
