Muhlenberg athletes are spending the summer of 2026 enjoying fantastic experiences on campus, in their hometowns, across the country, and even around the world.

Rising senior football player Samuel Filip, a double major in computer science and business administration and statistics minor, got a head start on his planned career by working as a licensed real estate agent.

This summer, I am working as a licensed real estate agent while also training to earn my real estate appraiser trainee license. These experiences allow me to learn two different sides of the real estate industry while gaining valuable hands-on experience.

One of the main reasons I chose to spend my summer in real estate is because it aligns with my long-term career goals; being a high-level real estate agent and state certified general real estate appraiser working for the government. Earning these licenses and gaining practical experience now will help prepare me for future opportunities in real estate.

I have been involved with Muhlenberg's Real Estate Investment Club since my freshman year, and I have served as the club's president since my sophomore year. Researching real estate topics, leading discussions, and staying informed about industry trends have strengthened my knowledge of the field and helped prepare me for real-world experiences. My coursework has also proved useful in learning about business concepts, mainly market functions, which I used during the licensing process.

What I enjoy most about this work is meeting and talking to new people every day. Every client has different goals and situations, which makes each conversation unique. In addition, each client has their own story and personality that I enjoy learning about. I enjoy helping people navigate important decisions and building relationships throughout the process.

One of the most exciting parts of the job is that no two days are the same. Whether I'm meeting new clients, visiting properties, or learning the appraisal process, I'm constantly exposed to new experiences. Every property has its own story, and every interaction teaches me something new about the industry. That variety keeps the work interesting and reinforces that I chose the right career path.
