Softball 15th in Final Poll

The Muhlenberg softball team was ranked 15th in the final National Fastpitch Coaches Association/GoRout Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll of the 2026 season.

The Mules had an extraordinary year, finishing with a 36-13 record to set the Muhlenberg College record for wins by any team in any sport. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, winning the Medford Regional by going 3-0 against two nationally ranked opponents, to advance to the super regional round for the first time in program history.

In the super regional, Muhlenberg faced defending national champion Trine and won the first game of the best-of-three series, 8-2. Trine ended the Mules' season by winning the second and third games, however, and went on to reach the national championship series before falling to Redlands.

The national ranking is the highest ever for a Centennial Conference team in the final Division III poll, and with Swarthmore finishing at No. 22, it marked the first time the CC placed two teams in the year-end top 25.

Muhlenberg played six other teams that appeared in the final poll and went 5-7 against them, posting wins against No. 2 Trine, No. 16 Moravian, No. 23 Middlebury, and No. 25 Tufts.

After going 21-20 in 2025, the Mules improved their win total by 15 this spring. That tied for the third-best improvement in Division III and was the best from one complete season to the next in program history.
