Fresh off an NCAA Regional Championship, the Muhlenberg softball team has added three members of the Class of 2030 to its roster, head coach
Sarah Leavenworth announced Thursday.
"I am incredibly excited to welcome our incoming freshman class to the Muhlenberg softball program," head coach
Sarah Leavenworth said of the trio. "These are high-character student-athletes who embody exactly the type of people we seek in our program. They will step in and help us continue building on the strong foundation left by our senior class, which has had such a profound cultural impact on our team. We can't wait to get them on campus and watch them grow as players and leaders."
The group consists of first baseman/outfielder Mea Allison, outfielder Zoe Hornstein, and pitcher/first baseman Lydia Kim. Allison and Hornstein both hail from eastern Pennsylvania, while Kim, the younger sister of future Muhlenberg teammate
Abigail Kim, is from Virginia.
The addition of Allison, Hornstein, and Kim will help offset the loss of the Mules' three graduates:
Scooter Hulsen,
Sophia Jacobson, and
Maddy Svenningsen, who made key contributions to the team's postseason run. Hulsen started 42 games last season (much of that behind the plate), and departs with the seventh-most career hits (154) and the second-most career RBIs (100) in program history. Jacobson spent the year as the Mules' primary pinch-runner while Svenningsen was often called upon to pinch-hit in clutch situations.

Northampton, Pa./Northampton
Academic Interest: Biology/Pre-Med
About Allison: A member of the Konkrete Kids' 2026 6A District XI championship-winning squad that eked out Emmaus 2-1 in the finals, Allison obliterated softballs across her first two seasons in high school to the tune of batting averages of .542 and .511 as a freshman and sophomore, respectively. After moving to varsity, she kept on hitting, putting up a .300 mark as a junior before helping Northampton to the district title as a senior. Her future plans include studying biology as part of the pre-med program with the eventual goal of becoming an anesthesiologist.
Why Muhlenberg?: "I chose to attend Muhlenberg College because it is the right fit for me both academically and athletically. The softball program and campus stood out, and I know I'll be able to explore and grow in my academic studies there. The coaches were really welcoming and supportive, which made the decision easier."

That earned her the Suburban One League's Player of the Year award in addition to a fourth straight all-league nod. Hornstein also earned a pair of defensive player of the year and sportsmanship awards during her high school career. Her future plans including becoming a physician's assistant.
Why Muhlenberg?: "I chose Muhlenberg for the community, education, small class sizes, and so much more!"
