Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse to Open Playoffs at Home

For the second straight season, the Muhlenberg men's lacrosse team will begin the Centennial Conference playoffs on its home turf.

Despite dropping their regular-season finale at ninth-ranked Dickinson, 17-5, the Mules (10-7, 5-3) earned the fourth seed in the CC playoffs when Swarthmore lost at home to Haverford, 12-11. Muhlenberg will host Swarthmore in a first-round game on Tuesday, April 28, at a time to be determined, with the winner going on to face top-seeded Dickinson in a semifinal game on Thursday. When the teams met in the regular season, the Garnet shut out the Mules in the first half and went on to a 16-6 win.

Last year, Muhlenberg hosted Franklin & Marshall in the first round of the CC playoffs and held off a late charge to post its first CC playoff win ever, 11-10.

The Mules got off to a good start against Dickinson when senior Michael Drago won the opening faceoff and scored just 6 seconds after the first whistle.

The Red Devils (14-2, 7-1) led 3-1 after one quarter and 6-3 at the half before putting the game away with eight goals in the third period.

Junior Chase Kusko was involved in three of Muhlenberg's five goals, scoring one and assisting on two, to break the school record of 74 points in a season he set last year. Kusko now has 75 points this spring and is tied for fourth place on the all-time CC list with 127 assists in his career.

Senior Jace Riley Day recorded 11 saves, breaking the modern school record for saves in a season with 195. The previous mark of 192 was set 10 years ago. The only three higher single-season save totals were set between 1968 and 1979 in the program's first go-around.
