The Muhlenberg baseball team played a wild game under the lights, falling to Rutgers-Newark, 22-17.
The two teams combined for 39 runs, 35 hits, 27 walks, 25 runners left on base, and 17 pitchers used. It was the highest-scoring game played by the Mules since a 22-21 loss to Hartwick in 2006.
Muhlenberg led 7-0 after two at-bats, only to have Rutgers-Newark score eight runs in the bottom of the second.
The lead changed hands four more times. Muhlenberg plated five runs in the sixth to go ahead 17-13 but was blanked in the final three frames. The Scarlet Raiders went ahead for good with four in the seventh and added four more runs in the eighth.
Every Mule starter had at least one hit, and all but one drove in a run.
Freshman
Emmy Bulis and sophomore
Mike Carcich each went 3-for-5, with Carcich driving in three runs. Sophomore
Sean Habeeb (pictured above) also knocked in three from his leadoff spot in the batting order, while junior
Spencer Hobson scored four runs.
