Four individuals and one relay team from Muhlenberg received All-Metro Region recognition from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the recently concluded indoor season.
The top eight individuals in each event from each region on the year-end descending order lists earned all-region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top eight relay teams.Â
The Mule honorees were sophomore
Sean McNeil in the triple jump; junior
Maya Richwine in the 60-meter hurdles; senior
Avery McNulty in the high jump; the 4x400-meter relay team of juniors
Sultan Almosbeh,
David Seel, and
Christopher Short and freshman
Kadon Harris; and Short by himself in the 200 meters and 400 meters.
McNeil posted the seventh-best triple jump in the region, setting a school record of 47-3¼ at the Fastrack National Invite, and went on to earn silver medals in both the triple jump and high jump at the Centennial Conference Championships.
Richwine landed fourth in the region in the 60-meter hurdles with her season-best time of 8.87 seconds, which earned her a silver at the CC Championships.
McNulty spent the majority of the winter playing on the Muhlenberg women's basketball team and competed in only three track meets, but that was enough to place her seventh in the region. Her mark of 5-2½ won a gold medal at the CC Championships.
The 4x400 relay team broke a 14-year-old school record, clocking in at 3:22.30 at the Fastrack National Invite. That was good for sixth in the region.Â
Short was sixth in the 200 (21.55 converted) and third in the 400 (47.97)Â on the regional list. At the CC Championships, he earned a bronze in the 200 and a gold in the 400, in meet record time. Short contributed to five school records during the indoor season and earned All-America honors by placing seventh in the 400 at the NCAA Championships.
The Mules are scheduled to begin their outdoor season on Saturday at Lafayette.
