Mules Roll Pride to Remain Undefeated

12 first-half goals by the hosts put the game away early, as the Muhlenberg women's lacrosse team defeated the visiting Widener Pride 14-5 on a chilly Wednesday evening.

It didn't take long for the rout to start. The Mules gobbled up the first five draw controls and turned each of those into scores, taking a 5-0 lead less than 10 minutes into the first period. Emma Youngling (pictured) led the way in the faceoff circle, nabbing two of those draws herself en route to nine for the game, just two short of her career high set against Moravian earlier this season.

The Pride took a timeout after that fifth consecutive goal, but Ava Milia's score three minutes later extended Muhlenberg's lead to 6-0. In the second period, the Mules would add six more to Widener's one to make the score 12-2 heading into halftime. To that point, eight different Muhlenberg players had found the back of the net, with Annalisa Bio, Milia, Jane Sorger, and Kim Curcio being the few multi-goal scorers. The Mules outshot the opposition 24-4 over the first half hour of play and controlled 13 of the 15 draws.

Sorger added one more in the second half for a hat trick and the team lead in scoring, while Halina Homiak finished with two assists for the team lead in that category.

With the win, the Mules even the all-time series with the Pride at 12-12. Widener's last win over Muhlenberg came in 2003; since then, Muhlenberg has won seven straight meetings.
