Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Torrid Start Fuels Dominant Conference Opener For Women’s Lacrosse

The Muhlenberg women's lacrosse team found the back of the net seven times before McDaniel got on the board, leading to an 18-4 Mules victory and a 1-0 start in Centennial Conference action.

Much of that scoring onslaught happened over the first 6:40 of game action. In that 6:40, the Mules scored six times, with half of them coming from the stick of Halina Homiak. She scored the first two goals as well as the last one of that stretch, nabbing her second career hat trick in under seven minutes of game time.

Much like Wednesday's drubbing of Widener, it was all Muhlenberg on both sides of the ball for a majority of the first half. Not only did the Mules score 10 goals in the first half, but they also held McDaniel to just three shots on goal. The defensive highlight of the game was a pair of consecutive possessions for the Green Terror during the middle of the second quarter that ended in shot clock violations. The visitors just could not penetrate the outer shell of the Mules' defense.

The Mules spread the wealth in this 18-goal performance, but a few players stood out in the box score. One was Annalisa Bio, who notched three straight goals in the third quarter to go with a first-quarter tally for a career-high of four. Freshman Jane Sorger remained hot with a hat trick and two assists to pace the Mules with five points, and Ava Milia had three assists to go with a goal for four points. In net, Meaghan Haughney recorded her fourth straight game with fewer than six goals against and saved eight shots in the win.

The win marks the fifth straight for the Mules over the Green Terror, but McDaniel still leads the all-time series 20-14. It is also Muhlenberg's eighth straight win to open the season, which surpasses the 2016, 2023, and 2024 teams as the new all-time mark. It also matches the 2017 team's mark for the longest single-season winning streak. One more win will match the team record for most consecutive wins overall, joining a nine-game stretch spanning the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
