Four Mules recorded hat tricks, senior
Ava Milia scored her 100th career goal, and the Muhlenberg women's lacrosse team started the 2026 season 1-0 with a 20-5 dismantling of crosstown rival Moravian.
The game was over almost as soon as it begun, as the hosts' scoring onslaught started with an
Emma Youngling goal just 25 seconds into the game. From there, Muhlenberg would tack on six more before the three-minute mark of the first period. Six of those first seven goals were put home by different players. The Mules tacked on five more before halftime, with a historic one coming just before the buzzer. As the clock was winding down, Milia drove towards the goal and found the back of the net for the fourth time in the game and the 100th time in her career. She's the 18th Mule to achieve that feat.
As the rain poured down, the Mules poured it on the Greyhounds. Nine different Mules found the back of the net over the course of the evening and Milia,
Alyssa Hartnett, and Youngling each had four goals apiece. Freshman
Samantha Kalinoglu put up a hat trick in her first career game, while
Halina Homiak and
Jane Sorger also tallied their first career goals.
Not to be lost in the offensive numbers is how the Mules dominated in the other facets of the game. In addition to her four goals, Youngling finished with 11 draw controls; that's tied for the 10th most in a single game in team history, and the most by a Mule since
Emily Vaughan had 13 against Dickinson in 2022. Defensively, the hosts stifled the Greyhounds at nearly every opportunity while the game was close. Muhlenberg caused seven Moravian turnovers to their own one in the first quarter and outshot Moravian 23-6 in the first half.
With the win, Muhlenberg moves to 13-0 all-time against their crosstown rival. Since the start of the 2022 campaign, the Mules are a crisp 31-1 against non-conference opponents.
