In the first of two home games against nationally ranked opponents this week, the Muhlenberg field hockey team fell to 13th-ranked Ursinus, 3-0.
The Bears scored early and late, putting in a goal on the first shot of the game, just 2:23 after the opening whistle, and putting the contest away`by scoring off a penalty corner in the final minute.Â
Sophomore
Brenna Fitzpatrick kept the Mules within striking distance through the heart of the game by making 13 saves, hitting double figures for the sixth time this season. Her 125 saves this year are the most by a Muhlenberg goalie since 2011.
Trailing 2-0, the Mules made a bid to cut their deficit in half when they took three shots in the first minute of the fourth quarter, but none found the back of the net.
