Men's Golf Competes in Match Play Event

The Muhlenberg men's golf team took a break from its normal stroke play and competed in a match play dual with DeSales, dropping a close contest 4-1.

Results were as follows:
Ryan Tasetano def. Matt Smith, 1 up
Isaac Mattern def. Max Pollitzer, 1 up
Mason Rush def. Jacob Grammes, 1 up
Quincy Brunner def. Justin Edwards, 1 up
Dylan Carfara def. Nate Hoskins, 4 and 3

Tasetano (pictured above) was down most of the front nine before getting to all square on the ninth hole. The match was still all square on 18 before Tasetano shot par to win. The highlight of the round for Tasetano was a 60-foot putt he made for par to win the 13th hole.

Pollitzer was three down early before crawling his way back and eventually got to 1 up before his opponent made a couple of good birdies to seal the match.

Grammes played a back-and-forth match that was all square with three holes left to play before. He was one down going into the last hole, where a bad drive cost him a chance to even the contest.

Edwards also played a tight match and was one down on the 18th hole with a 12-foot putt to tie, but it lipped out.

Match play was the norm for the Mules in the early years of the program up until 1972, when stroke play took over.
