The Muhlenberg Mules held the lead after 20 minutes but were unable to convert that into a victory, falling 80-53 to the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays in Centennial Conference action.
After falling behind 23-16 early on, the Mules rallied back over the final six minutes leading into halftime. That rally began with a 9-2 run punctuated by a
Jack Woodard corner three and a
Drew Buck driving layup through contact that drew the two teams even. From there,
Peter Stanton-Shepherd took over; the reigning Centennial Conference player of the week nailed a pair of threes to put the Mules on top 31-29 going into the break. The second three was courtesy of a perfect feed from
Drew Greene, who drew the defense in with a drive and kicked it to the corner to Stanton-Shepherd with .4 remaining.
The Mules went cold after the break, however, going scoreless over the first five minutes of the second half. The Blue Jays took advantage of that lull by turning defense into offense and grabbing a commanding double-digit lead that they never relinquished.
Stanton-Shepherd led the visitors with 15 points, including 11 in the first half. Sophomore Buck was the only other Mule to reach double figures, finishing with 11. Greene's vision garnered him five assists compared to just one turnover.
