After three close sets, the Muhlenberg volleyball team pulled away for a decisive 25-16 win in the fourth to win at Moravian and win the Sodexo Cup.
Sophomore
Abigail Oswari had a monster match in the Crosstown Clash, setting career highs of 17 kills and 19 digs. Sophomore
Olivia Bruno (12) and junior
Kelliann Keogh (10) also established career bests in kills. Senior
Christina Marcin added 12 kills and a career-high 24 digs.
The Mules (3-1) jumped out to an 8-1 lead in the first set, but the Greyhounds (2-2) closed to within 18-17 before a kill by sophomore
Kelly Stephen started a run of three straight points. Muhlenberg went on to win, 25-21.
In the second set, Moravian led 22-18 before the Mules roared back to win, 25-23, by scoring seven of the final eight points. Kills by Marcin, Oswari, and Keogh, all assisted by junior
Jenny Ryan, accounted for the final three points of the set.
Moravian took the third set, 25-23. The Mules were up only 10-9 in the fourth before going on a 10-3 run that featured a pair of kills and an ace by Oswari. It was 21-16 before Muhlenberg scored four straight points to wrap up the match.
Sophomores
Ansley Asche (23 assists) and
Emma Laskaj (14 digs) also set career highs. Ryan finished with 30 assists and 16 digs.
