The Muhlenberg Mules traveled to Huntingdon, Pennsylvania to take on a pair of ranked foes on Saturday afternoon. The visitors fought throughout but came up short in both contests, first falling 3-0 to No. 15 Marietta and then losing by the same score to host No. 1 Juniata.
Christina Marcin led the way for the Mules against the Muskies, totaling 12 kills on a .296 hitting percentage.
Kelliann Keogh finished second on the team in putaways with seven and was her team's driving force throughout the end of its closest set of the day. That was in set two, where the Mules kept pace throughout and held a lead as late as 19-18. A Keogh kill gave them that advantage, one of three she would tally over the next six Muhlenberg points.
Marcin's total gave the senior her fifth straight game of 10 or more kills to open the season.
Chloe Gaglione led the way with 15 digs while the duo of
Jenny Ryan and
Ansley Asche were first and second in assists with 14 and 13, respectively.
Andrea Romero-Agosto filled up the box score in match one with five kills and two blocks. She carried that momentum into the contest against last year's Division III national champions to finish first on the team in kills and aces. Ryan also paced the Mules in assists against Juniata with eight.
Marcin was named to the ASICS Invitational all-tournament team.
