The Muhlenberg football team received 27 votes in the
American Football Coaches Association D3 Coaches Poll, presented by Hudl, through Week 3 of the 2025 season.
The 27 votes put the Mules just four spots out of the top 25.Â
This is the third straight year that the Mules have received recognition in the AFCA poll. Last season, they were ranked as high as No. 19.Â
Muhlenberg is 3-0, including a road win against Endicott, a team that received 47 votes in the first poll of the regular season.Â
It's the second time in the last three years that the Mules have started 3-0, and the first time since 2016 that they've opened 3-0 with two of the wins coming on the road.
Ball security has been a big factor in Muhlenberg's fast start. The Mules haven't committed a turnover in their first three games for the first time in the last 50 years. They are one of only four teams in Division III that has played three games without losing a fumble or throwing an interception this season.
Muhlenberg has a bye this week before resuming its schedule with only Centennial Conference games. Ursinus, the Mules' opponent at home next Saturday, is also 3-0 and received 15 votes in the poll. The two CC teams in the top 25 - Johns Hopkins at No. 3 and Carnegie Mellon at No. 20 - are also Muhlenberg home opponents this season, in back-to-back weeks on October 25 and November 1.
