The Muhlenberg field hockey team opened its conference slate by falling 4-2 to rival Swarthmore on a rainy Wednesday evening.
A few Mules shined despite the overcast weather.
Abba Diglio pushed her scoring streak to four consecutive games with a goal in the opening few minutes. She created an advantage on a breakaway and converted for her eighth tally in as many games. It also moves the senior captain into sole possession of fourth place in Muhlenberg history in goals scored with 39.
Maya Schlegel was also a bright spot for the hosts. The junior forward scored her first career goal eight minutes into the third quarter. It came off of a penalty corner. A teammate sent the ball into Schlegel's area about 8 yards out, where she then corralled and settled it before smacking a strike past the overextended goalkeeper and into the net. This marks back-to-back games in which Schlegel's tallied a point.
Senior defender
Greta Marchildon continued her strong play on that end with multiple stops and takeaways.
