Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Celebrates First Win

The Muhlenberg women's soccer team scored twice in each half in defeating Coast Guard, 4-2, for its first win of the season.

All four goals were scored by players who came into the game without any on their career ledger. Sophomore Reilly Sullivan netted the first two goals of her career, while freshmen Jaidyn Falcone and Kaylie Thran, who made their first career starts, both notched their first career goals.

The first three tallies for the Mules (1-1) all came on set pieces. At the 17:35 mark, Falcone headed in a corner kick from sophomore Sydney McManus to give Muhlenberg a 1-0 lead. Pictured above, Falcone (at right) celebrates with teammates.

The Bears (0-2) tied the game only 20 seconds later, but Muhlenberg regained the lead with just under 10 minutes left in the half when senior Anna May sent a free kick from the right of the box on the ground to Sullivan, who one-timed it into the net.

Coast Guard again evened the score in fairly short order, scoring its second goal six minutes later.

The Mules took their third lead just 3:03 into the second half off a free kick from the center circle by sophomore Rahmya Hager. Thran got on the opposite end of the kick on a bounce and poked the ball past the goalie. The assist for Hager was her first career point.

After squandering two leads, Muhlenberg held on to the third, keeping the Bears off the board for the rest of the game as junior Megan Stairs made seven of her 11 saves in the second half.

Sullivan and May connected again with 14:02 remaining for an insurance goal. After May won a ball in the corner, she dribbled along the end line and slotted the ball back to Sullivan, who finished.

The four goals were the most scored by the Mules since a 5-0 shutout of Alvernia in 2019.
