Game Recap: Volleyball |

Volleyball Splits a Pair at DeSales Invitational

The Muhlenberg volleyball team first swept Rutgers-Camden before falling to Eastern in the same fashion in its second match of the day.

The Mules (2-1) poured it on early against the Scarlet Raptors (0-3), taking set one 25-11 and going up 10-1 in the second bout. Rutgers-Camden would then answer back, eventually pushing the set into overtime. With the score 26-26, Muhlenberg grabbed the advantage with a Christina Marcin kill before a Scarlet Raptor miscue gave the Mules the win.

Nursing a two-point advantage in the final set, the Mules put up a 7-1 run featuring three service aces to put it out of reach. In all, the victory was fueled by a dominant effort in the service game; Muhlenberg totaled 12 aces to Rutgers-Camden's six. Marcin led the way with five, while Jenny Ryan and Abigail Oswari each had two.

Ryan also paced her team in assists with 21. The attack was spearheaded by Marcin and freshman Andrea Romero-Agosto, who had 10 and 11 kills, respectively. Romero-Agosto was especially effective in the second set, tallying five kills.

Marcin totaled the same number of putaways in the second match to pace Muhlenberg. The Mules kept pace with the Eagles (2-0) throughout the first two sets, but ultimately fell short against the regional stalwart. Camila Leyes set a career high with 21 digs in that match, 10 more than her previous best of 11.
