In a game in which all the goals were scored in the second half, the Muhlenberg women's soccer team dropped its season opener to Elizabethtown, 3-1.
The Mules were held without a shot for the first 18 minutes of the game but ended the first half on a flurry, taking nine shots, one of which ticked off the crossbar, and forcing some tough saves by the Blue Jay goalie.
The score remained 0-0, however, until Elizabethtown broke the deadlock with 18:47 left in the second half.
Trailing 2-0, Muhlenberg made it a game with 5:28 remaining, scoring off a throw. Sophomore
Devon Cheeseman took a pass back off the throw and sent a long pass ahead to freshman
Jaidyn Falcone, who tapped it out wide to freshman
Ava Millan, who was cutting on her left. Millan dribbled into the box and beat the Blue Jay goalie to the far post.
Elizabethtown foiled the comeback effort by scoring an insurance goal just over two minutes later, however.
Senior
Dani Klingener made 7 saves in her first home appearance and second career start for the Mules.
