The Muhlenberg women's lacrosse team fell to fifth-ranked Franklin & Marshall, 21-11, in the semifinals of the Centennial Conference playoffs.
The Mules (14-5) are in the mix for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and will await the results of other games this weekend. The NCAA selection show is on Monday morning.
Franklin & Marshall (16-2) scored three goals in the first 1:45 and led 4-0 less than five minutes in, but Muhlenberg rallied to close to within 5-3 late in the first quarter. The Mules had three possessions with a chance to make it a one-goal game but could not score, and the Diplomats netted the first six goals of the second quarter to pull away.
The 11 goals scored by Muhlenberg were the most allowed by F&M to a CC team this season.
