The Muhlenberg women's lacrosse team scored eight goals in the first quarter and went on to a 17-8 home win against Montclair State.
The win gave the Mules (10-2) double digits in victories for the fourth straight season and the 10th time in program history, all since 2006.
Senior
Jillian Kubikowski tied her career highs with 7 goals and 9 points. Her first goal of the game, with 9:28 left in the first quarter, was the 100th of her career. She is the 17th player in program history to reach the century mark.
Sophomore
Emma Youngling scored 3 goals, all in the first quarter, to record her sixth consecutive hat trick. Junior
Annalisa Bio, who came into the game with two goals all season, also netted 3 goals for her first career hat trick.
Two goals by Youngling, Kubikowski's milestone goal, and one by Bio gave Muhlenberg a 4-0 lead a little more than six minutes into the game. The Red Hawks (6-5) - who in their last game lost to nationally ranked TCNJ by just one goal - scored two goals 19 seconds apart to cut the deficit in half, but the Mules closed out the quarter by netting the final four goals, two of them assisted by junior
Danielle Sautner.
The Muhlenberg defense held Montclair scoreless in the second quarter, adding three goals, including one by Kubikowski with just a half-second remaining in the half.
Kubikowski's seventh goal of the game was another buzzer-beater, coming as time expired in the third and sending the Mules into the final period with a 15-4 advantage.
Freshman
Kim Curcio achieved her own career milestone in the fourth quarter, putting in a free-position shot for her first career goal.
Senior
Emily Vaughan led the defense with 4 caused turnovers and 3 ground balls, while senior
Lisa DeCristofaro (pictured above) scooped up a pair of ground balls.
