The Muhlenberg women's lacrosse team scored 45 seconds into the game and never looked back, doubling up Ursinus, 16-8, for its first Centennial Conference playoff win ever.
The win was the 14th of the season for the Mules (14-4), breaking a school record that had stood since 2016, and sent them to a semifinal matchup at top-seeded Franklin & Marshall on Thursday.
Senior
Jillian Kubikowski tied her career high of nine points, scoring five goals and assisting on four. Sophomores
Alyssa Hartnett (four goals) and
Emma Youngling (three) also notched hat tricks, with Youngling adding an assist to reach the 100-point mark for her career.
Kubikowski and Youngling both have 60 goals this season. A Muhlenberg player had scored 60 goals in a season six times previously, but two teammates had never accomplished the feat in the same season.
Junior
Ava Milia scored a goal - the 95th of her career - on the Mules' first possession, and Hartnett netted her first goal 42 seconds later for a quick 2-0 lead.
It was 4-0 before the Bears (7-11) cracked the scoreboard and 9-1 midway through the first half. Ursinus never got within five goals the rest of the way.
Muhlenberg assisted on 13 of its 16 goals, with junior
Danielle Sautner recording a career-high five assists.
Senior
Ellison Ervin was outstanding in goal, making a season-high 14 saves, including five on free-position shots. Senior
Emily Vaughan caused four turnovers and picked up four ground balls, while sophomore
Rylee Hulack also recorded four ground balls.
