Softball Clinches Playoff Berth with 20th Win

The Muhlenberg softball team clinched a spot in the Centennial Conference playoffs with a 7-0 shutout of Haverford in the first game of a doubleheader.

The Mules (20-16, 8-6), who dropped the second game 5-2, will be the third or fourth seed in the CC playoffs. If they sweep Gettysburg in Saturday's final regular-season doubleheader, they will earn the third seed. Otherwise, they will be the fourth seed and host the fifth seed in a first-round game next Tuesday.

Muhlenberg also reached the 20-win mark for the 14th time in program history, and the third time in the last four seasons.

Freshman Morgan Bobrowski tossed her first career shutout in the opener, holding the Fords (16-18, 4-10) to three hits. Bobrowski fanned five and allowed only one runner past second base. She allowed two straight batters to reach on a hit by pitch and walk with two outs in the sixth but rebounded to retire the final four hitters.

Sophomore Skyla Campisi broke open a 3-0 game in the fifth with a bases-clearing double. Bobrowski helped her own cause by following with an RBI single to score pinch-runner Alexis Hardy (pictured above).

In the second game, sophomore Lillie Teague hit RBI singles in the fourth and fifth to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead, but Haverford tied it in the sixth and scored three in the seventh.

Graduate student Gillian Zack doubled in each game to increase her career total for two-baggers to 37, one short of the school record.
