The Muhlenberg softball team closed out its regular season by dropping a pair of close games to 14th-ranked Gettysburg, 1-0 and 5-3.
The Mules (20-18, 8-8) ended the season in fourth place in the Centennial Conference and will host fifth-place Washington College in a first-round game on Tuesday.Â

The first game was a swift pitching duel in which the lone run, scored by the Bullets (35-4, 15-1) in the sixth, was unearned. Freshman
Morgan Bobrowski delivered her second fantastic outing of the week, going six innings and allowing only three hits four days after shutting out Haverford.
Buurman had two of the Mules' five hits in the opener and added two more hits in the nightcap, scoring two runs on extra-base hits by graduate student
Gillian Zack.
In the first inning, Zack doubled to deep center, tying the school record of 38 career two-baggers. It was also her 50th career extra-base hit. Number 51 was a triple in the fifth, after Gettysburg had broken a 1-1 tie with four in the top of the fifth.
Muhlenberg got the tying runs into scoring position in the sixth but could not push them across and went down 1-2-3 in the seventh.
Bergara pitched in both games, adding to her school record with the 100th and 101st appearances of her career.
