The Muhlenberg softball team was swept by Ursinus, 11-2 and 7-2, in a doubleheader at Cedar Crest.
The four runs for the Mules (16-14, 4-4) came on two swings of the bat. In the fifth inning of the opening game, junior
Scooter Hulsen spoiled an Ursinus shutout bid with a two-run ground-rule double to center.Â
In the nightcap, graduate student
Gillian Zack gave Muhlenberg an early 2-0 lead with an opposite-field home run in the bottom of the first. It was her 11th career home run and gave her 80 career RBI.
That was all the scoring for the Mules, though, and the Bears (18-15, 6-6) took the lead with three in the third and gave themselves breathing room by scoring two runs in each of the final two innings.
Freshman
Alyssa Santangelo made her first career start in the second game and recorded the first two hits of her career, going 2-for-3. Freshman
Ellie Ward got her first career hit as a pinch-hitter in the opener.
