For the second straight day, the Muhlenberg baseball team put up a six-run inning late but could not overcome a big early deficit.
The Mules (14-15, 4-6) plated six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to cut a 15-3 deficit to 15-9, but Haverford got four runs back in the seventh to win, 19-9.
The loss spoiled a historic performance by sophomore
Marc Quarrie, who hit a two-run triple in the sixth. Quarrie now has 46 runs scored and 41 RBI this season and is only the second Muhlenberg player ever to score 40 and drive in 40 in the same season.
Quarrie also had a RBI double in the first, driving in graduate student
Jack Kent, who led off with a triple. Kent added a two-run single in the sixth, and the Mules also received an RBI single by freshman
Chris Moglia in the fourth and a run-scoring double by senior
Brendan Hughes in the sixth.Â
Senior
Brendan Bussiere (pictured above, scoring on Moglia's single) made history of a sort when he was hit by pitch twice in the same inning.
