The Muhlenberg women's lacrosse team scored the final four goals to come from behind and defeat Savannah College of Art and Design, 15-13.
The Bees (7-1) are the top-ranked team in the NAIA, with wins against two NCAA Division II teams and one Division III squad this season.
The Mules (4-1) looked to have the game in hand when they opened up an 11-6 lead a little more than five minutes into the second half. The offense hit a dry spell, however, and did not score again for more than 18 minutes as SCAD went on a 7-0 run to take a two-goal lead.
Senior
Jillian Kubikowski finally broke the drought with 6:33 remaining, then put in a free-position shot 55 seconds later to tie the score.
Muhlenberg won the ensuing draw and took a shot that was blocked. The Bees collected the rebound, but sophomore
Rylee Hulack forced a turnover on the attempted clear, giving possession back to the Mules.
With 3:56 left, sophomore
Alyssa Hartnett took a pass from junior
Ava Milia and scored the go-ahead goal as she was getting fouled.
SCAD turned the ball over on its final possession, with junior
Abba Diglio picking up the ground ball and clearing with under two minutes to go. The Mules ran out most of the remaining time, and Kubikowski put in the insurance goal with 6 seconds on the clock.
Kubikowski finished with a career-high 7 goals, becoming the second different Muhlenberg player put in that many this season. It's only the third time in program history that the Mules have had two players record seven-goal games in the same season.
Sophomore
Emma Youngling, who scored seven against Drew, added 5 goals against SCAD, while junior
Annalisa Bio netted her first goal of the season.
Senior
Ellison Ervin and junior
Meaghan Haughney combined to make 10 saves in goal, including six on free-position shots.
