Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball Wins Third Straight

After a week off for finals, the Muhlenberg women's basketball returned to action and led nearly wire-to-wire in a 52-43 win at Alvernia.

The win was the third straight for the Mules (6-5), who now have a three-week break for the holidays before hosting Moravian on the first Saturday of 2026.

The Golden Wolves (3-5) scored the first basket of the game, but Muhlenberg responded with an 8-0 run and remained in the lead the rest of the game.

Freshman Linzy Roberson scored in double figures for the third game in a row, finishing with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Sophomore Veronica Dawson recorded her second consecutive double-double, with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while senior Avery McNulty added 10 points.

Roberson scored eight of her points in the first quarter, all on layups - one after a steal and three after beating her defender off the dribble. Dawson also scored eight points in the first period, making her second three in the final half-minute to give the Mules a 19-7 lead.

Dawson's layup in the first minute of the second quarter gave Muhlenberg its biggest advantage at 14 points. Alvernia made a couple of runs in the second half, closing to within five points in the third quarter and six in the fourth, but the Mules combined enough defensive stops with offensive conversions to maintain the lead.

Muhlenberg's last two field goals, a three by McNulty and a driving layup by senior Mia Fitzgerald, both came with the shot clock winding down and gave the Mules nine-point leads.

The Mules held the Golden Wolves to 26.9-percent shooting and forced 21 turnovers.

Junior Lyndsey Costigan (pictured above) finished with 6 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 steals.
