Despite suffering its first loss of the season, the Muhlenberg men's soccer team will get the chance to play for the top seed in the Centennial Conference playoffs.
The Mules (8-1-8, 3-1-4) fell 1-0 at Johns Hopkins (5-6-6, 3-2-3) but remained in second place in the CC with 13 points. Washington College also has 13 points, and nationally ranked Dickinson tops the standings with 16 points.
If Muhlenberg defeats Dickinson in its regular-season finale at home on Halloween night, it will tie the Red Devils for first place and earn the top seed no matter what Washington College does in its finale at Gettysburg.
The game that ended the Mules' school-record 16-game unbeaten streak was decided on an early score. The Blue Jays netted their goal just 4:25 into the game and made it stand in a rematch of the last three CC championship games. Muhlenberg finished with a 17-8 advantage in shots but failed to put one in the net for the fourth CC game in a row.
