The Muhlenberg men's soccer team ended its regular season with a 1-0 loss to 16th-ranked Dickinson.
The Mules (8-2-8, 3-2-4) came into the game having already clinched a Centennial Conference playoff berth and would have earned the top seed for the tournament with a win against the first-place Red Devils (11-0-7, 5-0-4).
Dickinson scored off a throw seven minutes into the game, and that stood up as the lone goal. Muhlenberg had a chance to tie late in the half but put a penalty kick high.
The Mules pressed hard for the equalizer in the closing moments and almost found it in the final 30 seconds when senior
Sim Dorsey got his head on a long diagonal cross from sophomore
Chris Turnbull. The shot went just over the crossbar, however.
The loss, combined with a Johns Hopkins win at Ursinus, ensured that Muhlenberg will play a first-round game on Tuesday, November 4. The Mules could be anywhere from the third through the sixth seed; if they are third or fourth they will host a game at Jeff Morris '82 Field.
Games to watch on the final day of the regular season that will determine Muhlenberg's seeding are Franklin & Marshall at McDaniel at 2:00, Swarthmore at Haverford at 3:00, and Washington College at Gettysburg at 7:00.
