The Gettysburg Bullets scored three goals in the first period and six total to defeat the Muhlenberg Mules 6-1 in a Centennial Conference contest Saturday afternoon.
The visiting Bullets procured 10 shots in that lopsided first 15 minutes, four of them being saved and three finding the back of the cage. Muhlenberg had just one fewer shot on net throughout the game (10 to 11) but were consistently stymied by a trio of Gettysburg goalies.
The Mules' lone tally came off of a perfectly executed penalty corner play by
Erin DiSandro and
Danielle Kapsak (

Lily Botta inserted the ball to DiSandro at the top of the circle, who wisely turned down a long-range shot in favor of passing it to Kapsak.  Kapsak immediately gave it right back on the give-and-go to a cutting DiSandro, who then fired it into the net. It was her ninth goal of the season, giving her the team lead. It also put the captain in a tie for sixth place in program history with Kelly Gower for most points in a career with 87.
