Considering that the field was named for a goalie at halftime, perhaps it was appropriate that neither let a ball past.
The men's soccer teams from Muhlenberg and Washington College played to a scoreless draw in a game that started on Varsity Field and ended on Jeff Morris '82 Field. In a halftime ceremony, the field was renamed to honor the former Mule 'keeper.
With the result, the 24th-ranked Mules (8-0-7, 3-0-3) tied the school record for longest unbeaten streak in program history. The only previous team to play 15 straight games without a loss was the 2010 squad, which went on to advance to the "Sweet 16."
One of eight seniors honored prior to the game on Senior Day,
Ben Mulford made a pair of stops to record his 26th career shutout. Mulford, who entered the game tied for third among active Division III goalies in shutouts, has not allowed a goal in his last 543 minutes.
Muhlenberg, one of 18 undefeated teams in Division III at the start of the day, had a 15-7 advantage in shots but had to settle for its second straight 0-0 tie against the Shoremen (4-6-5, 1-1-4).
