The Muhlenberg women's soccer team made a first-half goal stand up for the second game in a row, edging Haverford, 1-0.
The Mules (5-8-1, 2-4) were under intense pressure from the Fords (4-7-3, 2-5) in the second half but were able to hang on - "Kling" on - thanks to the play of senior goalie
Dani Klingener, who recorded 10 saves, the most by a Muhlenberg goalie in a shutout win since 2014.
Klingener made half of her 10 saves in the second half, during which Haverford owned a 13-1 advantage in shots, including two one-v.-one saves on the same player in a span of less than three minutes. Klingener stopped the first shot at point-blank range, then dove to her left to keep the second one out.
Muhlenberg scored in the 18th minute with three first-year players combining on the goal.
Jaidyn Falcone (pictured above) passed the ball out wide to
Kaylie Thran, who took a few dribbles down the left sideline and crossed the ball to
Madelyn Hill, who finished in the box for her first career goal. Hill became the sixth different Mule to score her first career goal this season.
The five wins this season are the most for the Mules since 2019, which was also the last time they won multiple Centennial Conference games in the same season. Muhlenberg hadn't won back-to-back CC contests since 2015 and hadn't defeated Haverford since 2014.
