The Muhlenberg baseball team led in both games but was swept by McDaniel in its first Centennial Conference doubleheader of the season.
The Green Terror (11-8, 2-0), which entered the day with a .330 team batting average, slugged four home runs in winning 9-3 and 11-4.
The Mules (6-13, 0-2) did some slugging of their own, in particular senior
Ryan Friesen, who hit a pair of home runs in the opener. Friesen
(pictured above) belted solo round-trippers in the second and ninth as part of a 4-for-4 effort that also included a double.
Senior
Brendan Hughes hit a two-out RBI single in the third, and the game was tied 2-2 until McDaniel erupted for seven runs in the eighth. Freshman
Esteban Salazar pitched 3.1 strong innings in relief, allowing only one run and two hits.
Friesen's run-scoring groundout and a two-out single by freshman
Marc Quarrie gave Muhlenberg an early 2-0 lead in the first inning of the nightcap, but the Green Terror scored in four straight innings from the third through the sixth to take a big lead.
Senior
Ryan Riccio went 3-for-5 in the second game and 5-for-10 in the twinbill. Senior
Nick Stannard came off the bench to go 2-for-2.
