Despite playing well in the even-numbered quarters, the Muhlenberg women's basketball team fell at Dickinson, 54-42.

The Mules (10-8, 5-8) outscored the third-place Red Devils (13-4, 10-2) by a 26-18 margin in the second and fourth quarters, and six of the 18 points came on late free throws. Muhlenberg allowed only four field goals in 20 minutes in the two periods.

But the Red Devils had the upper hand in the odd-numbered quarters, outscoring the Mules 36-16. 

Dickinson went 4-for-6 from three-point range in the opening period, jumping out to a 21-9 advantage. It was 29-13 midway through the second quarter before Muhlenberg ended the half on an 8-0 run to cut the deficit in half. 

The Red Devils led by 17 after three, but the Mules opened the fourth on a 9-0 run to draw to within eight. That was as close as they would get, though.

Junior Rachel Saxton led Muhlenberg with 14 points, while sophomore Katie McGrath came off the bench to score 9 in only 13 minutes. Sophomore Mia Fitzgerald (pictured above) tied her season high with 7 points.
