Two goals and one big save gave the Muhlenberg field hockey team a 2-1 win against Gettysburg in its first Centennial Conference game of the season.
The Mules (4-3, 1-0) have now won four of their last five games, and their last four have all been decided by one goal.
Sophomores
Erin DiSandro and
Abba Diglio combined for both Muhlenberg goals. In the second quarter, DiSandro took a pass from Diglio, spun around the Bullet goalie and buried the shot for her fourth goal of the season.
Early in the third quarter, Diglio netted her fourth goal of the season after taking a pass from DiSandro and beating the charging goalie.
DiSandro and Diglio have teamed up for four goals in the last three games.
The Bullets (3-3, 0-1) cut the deficit in half midway through the third quarter and had a golden opportunity to tie the score when they were awarded a penalty stroke with 2:26 left in the fourth. But for the second straight game, junior
Grace Leard stopped a stroke with a dive to her right, knocking the shot out of the air with her stick.
