The Muhlenberg field hockey team held off a late rally to edge Misericordia, 3-2.
The Mules (3-3) held a seemingly comfortable 3-0 lead with less than 10 minutes to play before the Cougars (2-4) netted a pair of goals to cut the gap to one. Muhlenberg successfully ran off the final 1:46 to secure the win in its final tuneup before beginning Centennial Conference play.
Sophomore
Abba Diglio opened the scoring midway through the first quarter, converting a pass from junior
Devon Eastlack for her 10th career goal.
Diglio set up the second goal, midway through the third quarter, when she beat her defender in the circle and passed to sophomore
Erin DiSandro, who was alone in front of the Misericordia goalie. DiSandro finished for her third goal of the season.
Senior
Katie Raab provided what proved to be the winner with 3:03 left in the third quarter when she blasted in a shot from the top of the circle off a penalty corner.
The Cougars had a great chance to score their first goal early in the fourth quarter, but junior
Grace Leard dove to her right to stop a penalty stroke. Pictured above, the Mules congratulate Leard after the save, one of her five in the game.
