Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Ties Hopkins Again

The Muhlenberg men's soccer team tied Johns Hopkins for the third time in the last two seasons.

In the 2022 regular season, the Mules tied Hopkins 2-2 at home when the Blue Jays were ranked fifth in Division III. Two weeks later in Baltimore, the teams played to a scoreless draw in the Centennial Conference championship game, with Muhlenberg claiming the title on penalties.

This year's meeting, the CC opener for both teams, came in Baltimore with Hopkins receiving votes in the Division III poll and ended in a 1-1 deadlock.

The Blue Jays (3-1-3, 0-0-1) opened the scoring 8:03 into the second half, but the Mules (3-1-1, 0-0-1) responded a little more than nine minutes later off a long throw by freshman Sam Roberts. The Hopkins goalie leaped to pluck the ball out of the air, but it went over his outstretched arms, and senior Greyson King tapped it into the open net.

Of the six career goals for King (pictured above), two have come against Johns Hopkins.

The Blue Jays had a good chance to reclaim the lead off a corner kick with 25 minutes remaining, but sophomore Ben Mulford used his quick reflexes to deflect a shot from in close over the crossbar.
