The Muhlenberg field hockey team could not hang on to a first-half lead and fell at home to Montclair State, 2-1.
The Mules (2-3) controlled the play for most of the first half, holding the Red Hawks (3-3) without a shot and taking six penalty corners. They scored the first goal of the game just 1:26 into the second half in transition, with sophomore
Erin DiSandro dribbling down the right side and passing ahead to sophomore
Abba Diglio, who redirected the ball into the cage for her second goal of the season.
Montclair State held sway in the third quarter, keeping Muhlenberg from taking a shot and netting the tying goal with 3:32 on the clock.
The fourth was the most evenly played of the quarter, with chances for both teams. The Red Hawks converted a penalty corner with 3:45 remaining for what proved to be the winner.
