Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse Plays Senior Night Showdown

The Muhlenberg men's lacrosse team fell to Gettysburg, 15-13, in a showdown between nationally ranked teams.

The ninth-ranked Bullets (11-2, 5-1) scored the final four goals of the game to take over sole possession of first place in the Centennial Conference. The 19th-ranked Mules (9-4, 4-2) entered the game in a four-way tie for first place with Gettysburg, Swarthmore and Dickinson.

Senior Ethan Grossman led Muhlenberg with 4 goals, and junior Wyatt Malia (3 goals, 1 assist) and senior Dominick Visintin (1 goal, 3 assists) also scored 4 points. Junior Jack Taub, who came into the game with one goal on the season, scored three times for his first career hat trick.

Gettysburg scored the first three goals, including two in a span of 7 seconds, but back-to-back goals by Dalimonte started a 4-0 run that put the Mules ahead. Three straight goals by Dalimonte, Malia and Taub made it 7-4, and graduate student Ethan Grossman scored a behind-the-back extra-man goal of a feed from junior Jack Quinn for an 8-5 Muhlenberg advantage.

Malia completed his hat trick three minutes into the second half to give the Mules their biggest lead, 10-6. The Bullets scored five of the next six goals, however, to tie the score at 11 apiece.

Taub's third goal and the first by senior Jason Metz put Muhlenberg ahead 13-11 with 10:16 remaining, but the Mules were shut out for the rest of the game.

The last three meetings between Muhlenberg and Gettysburg have been decided by a total of five goals.
