The Muhlenberg baseball team could not hold on to an early lead and dropped its home opener to Eastern, 9-5.
The Mules (3-2-1) scored three runs in their first at-bat, with junior
Jonathan Toth hitting a booming triple to left and sophomore
Aidan Legner following with an RBI single.
Eastern (2-8) tied the score in the top of the fifth before Legner put Muhlenberg back on top with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning.
The Eagles drew even again in the seventh and took the lead for the first time with four runs in the top of the eighth.
Senior
Jake Swerdloff singled in a run in the bottom of the eighth, but the Mules left the bases loaded in both the eighth and ninth innings.
