The Muhlenberg women's basketball team ran into a stingy Dickinson defense and suffered just its second home loss of the season, 57-35.
It wasn't all bad for the Mules (10-12, 9-8), who did get some help from their next opponent, Franklin & Marshall. The Diplomats defeated Washington College, one of the teams Muhlenberg is competing with for a playoff spot. With a little more than a week to go in the season, Muhlenberg is in fifth place, followed by Swarthmore (8-9) and Washington (8-10). Only two of those three teams will make the playoffs.
The Red Devils (15-6, 13-4), who are a game out of first place, showed why they are sixth in Division III in scoring defense, holding the Mules to two first-half field goals. Muhlenberg trailed 24-10 at the half and could not make up ground despite scoring 25 points in the second half.
Freshman
Avery McNulty came off the bench to lead the Mules with 8 points, and junior
Abigail Scheidel hit a pair of threes for 6 points.
Sophomore
Megan Winters (pictured above) finished with 2 points and 2 rebounds.
