Big wins by seniors on Senior Night propelled the Muhlenberg men's wrestling team to a 38-10 win against Scranton.
The four Mule seniors who competed all won with bonus points, including three in the first three bouts on the mat.
Senior
Joey Lamparelli, ranked fourth in Division III by d3wrestle.com, built a 16-1 lead midway through the second period on three takedowns and two near-falls to record his fifth technical fall of the season in just nine bouts. He is already just two techs away from the school record of seven in a season.
Senior
Ricky Caamano opened up a 6-2 lead at 133 before pinning his opponent 34 seconds into the second period, and seniorÂ
Christopher Dalmau took down his opponent just 10 seconds in and added three more takedowns en route to a 13-3 major decision at 141.
The fourth senior to compete,Â
Deon Savage, recorded a pin with 43 seconds left in the first period.Â
The fastest pin of the night was by sophomore
Ryan Fairchild, who caught his 184-pound opponent in a headlock and flattened him after only 28 seconds. And the most inspiring win of the match came at 285, where junior
Paul Parise, who usually competes at 197, brushed off a 40-pound deficit in weight to notch his second career technical fall.
The Mules (4-2) also got hard-fought decisions from freshmen
Alex Greco (3-2 at 149) and
Nick Stump (13-10 at 165).
Lamparelli, Caamano, Dalmau and Savage were honored prior to the match along with fellow seniors
Keshon Davila,
Riley McHale and
Ezra Toll.
