The Muhlenberg men's basketball team jumped out to a 10-0 lead and never looked back, rolling past Dickinson 79-50 for its first Centennial Conference win of the season.
Senior
Brandon Goldberg led four Mules in double figures with a career-high 18 points, adding 9 rebounds to just miss his first career double-double. Junior
Jayson Williams-Johnson added 17 points, while senior
Giovanni Rubino scored 15 points and sophomore
Drew Greene came off the bench to contribute a career-high 11 points and 4 steals.
It was Muhlenberg's defense that rose to the occasion in the first half, allowing only six field goals. The Red Devils (2-3, 1-1) made just one field goal in the first 11:30, and by that point the Mules (2-2, 1-1) had a 22-4 lead.
Goldberg scored 13 of his points in the first half, including a dunk with a minute left that gave Muhlenberg its first 20-point lead, 36-16. A layup by Rubino
(pictured above) in the closing seconds made it 38-18, and Greene stole the ensuing inbounds pass and beat the buzzer with a layup to send the Mules into the locker room with a 40-18 edge.
Dickinson never got closer than 19 points in the second half, which was highlighted by a ferocious dunk by freshman
Michael Feroci with 4:21 remaining, giving Muhlenberg a 72-43 lead. Feroci finished with a career-high 9 rebounds.
