The Muhlenberg field hockey team recorded its highest goal output of the season in a 4-0 home shutout of McDaniel.
Prior to the game, the Mules (5-8, 2-5) honored their four seniors,
Kaitlyn Hennelly,
Paige Goldberg,
Taylor Canfield and
Katie Raab (pictured left to right above, with their families).
While Hennelly and Raab helped the offense put in four, Goldberg and Canfield were part of a defense that did not allow a penalty corner or a shot in defeating the Green Terror (2-11, 0-6) for the eighth consecutive season. That made things easy for freshman
Maddie Schwartz, who recorded the shutout in goal in her first career start.
Muhlenberg opened the scoring off a penalty corner in the 24th minute when junior
Devon Eastlack finished a pass from freshman
MJ Callahan at the left post. It was the first goal of the season for Eastlack and the first career point for Callahan.
Raab doubled the lead in the third quarter when she blasted in a shot from the wing off a penalty corner for her ninth career goal.
Sophomores
Abba Diglio and
Erin DiSandro, who entered the game tied for the Centennial Conference lead in goals, put the game away by scoring less than four minutes apart in the fourth quarter. Diglio scored off a pass from DiSandro for her eighth goal of the season to make it 3-0, and DiSandro kept pace by notching
her eighth goal of the season after intercepting an attempted clearing pass.
