Four players scored goals as the Muhlenberg field hockey team rolled to its second straight win, 6-1 at Gwynedd Mercy.
Coming on the heels of a 4-0 home shutout of McDaniel on Saturday, it marked the first time the Mules (6-8) scored at least four goals in back-to-back games since 2015.
The last time Muhlenberg scored six goals in a game was in 2016 against Moravian.
After a scoreless first quarter, Muhlenberg broke the game open by scoring four times in a span of less than seven minutes in the second quarter. Since college field hockey switched from halves to quarters in 2019, it's the first time the Mules have scored four goals in a quarter.Â
Sophomore
Erin DiSandro recorded the first and last goals in the outburst, giving her 10 goals for the season. She's the first Muhlenberg player to reach double figures in goals since 2016 and the first to do it as a sophomore since 2007.
Junior
Devon Eastlack and sophomore
Abba Diglio also netted goals in the second quarter, and Eastlack
(pictured above)Â extended the lead to 5-0 in the third quarter. It was the first career multiple-goal game for Eastlack, who matched her career total coming into the game.
Junior
Zabelle Aslanian capped the Muhlenberg scoring in the fourth off a pass from DiSandro.
The Griffins (2-12) spoiled the shutout by scoring with less than three minutes left to play.Â
