The Muhlenberg men's basketball shot 68 percent in the first half and rolled to an 82-61 win at Haverford.
Following wins of 84-68 against Dickinson and 90-63 at Washington, it was the third straight Centennial Conference game in which the Mules (11-5, 6-3) topped the 80-point mark. They have done that only two other times in their history, the last time 22 years ago in the 2000-01 season. The only other time was in 1993-94, the first year of the CC, and in one of those games they scored 81 points in an overtime contest.
Graduate student
Dan Gaines led four Muhlenberg players in double figures with 22 points to go along with 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Junior
Giovanni Rubino went 8-for-11 from the field and finished with 17 points and 6 assists. Sophomore
Jayson Williams-Johnson netted 17 points in only 21 minutes, and junior
Brandon Goldberg scored 12.
The game was tied 8-8 after six minutes before Muhlenberg went on a 17-4 blitz fueled by 8 points from Williams-Johnson and 7 from Gaines. The Fords (5-11, 3-6) never got closer than 12 points the rest of the way.
The Mules closed the half on a 9-0 run to take a 53-30 lead into the locker room, hitting 53 points in the first half for the second straight road game. Muhlenberg was 21-for-31 from the field in the first half.
Goldberg
(pictured above) was 6-for-7 from the field and added 6 rebounds and a pair of blocked shots.
